Quail Park (Bend)

Quail Park was a surprising find.  I'd rate it as one of Bend's best parks for kids.

From Bend Parks and Recreation:
"This park is located west of Central Oregon Community College and Mt. Washington Drive. The site is surrounded by single-family residential development. Approximately half of the site was preserved in native conifer cover with pedestrian connections to the adjacent neighborhoods.

"The available picnic shelter has a capacity of 13. A portable toilet is on site. "

The most unique feature here is a pint sized tennis court, just right for little ones learning the game--that is if your little one doesn't tend to hit the ball  into the next zip code.  The fences are low, and you may be chasing errant balls more often than you'd like. Edit: That's not a miniature tennis court--it's a pickleball court.  What do I know about racquet sports?

The playground is nice.  Lots of variety, and it includes a play structure for the younger ones.  A hiking trail style stairway leads into an adjoining neighborhood.

Restrooms:
As with many Bend parks, a portable restroom is available seasonally.  My kids need to pee more often than that, but at least there are some relatively discreet places to take care of business when it's not portable restroom season.

Safety:
Quail Park is located on a quiet dead end street.  There are good sightlines, and it's easy to keep track of your kids here.
