Compass Park (Bend)

Compass Park may have the most whimsical playground in Central Oregon.  The playground is in the middle of a big circle surrounded by a one-way traffic circle.

The park is large enough to contain the playground, a large covered picnic area and grassy areas.  About half of the park is undeveloped, but that provides trail areas that are perfect for developing the next generation of mountain bikers.
Parking:
The traffic circle is one way counter-clockwise with parallel parking available on both sides of the street.   It's not busy during the week so it's usually easy to get a primo parking spot. Some of the parking is even shaded.

Restrooms:
Even the park in Northwest Crossing has to make do with a seasonal restroom. outhouse.  It is located under a nice shelter that my boys always want to play in.  Even if the restroom is occupied.
Safety:
The playground is located in a small forest, and there are hiding spots in every direction.  If your kid likes to run and hide from you, this park could be stressful.

The play structures are brightly colored, but they are more difficult to climb than most.  It may not be as much fun for the littlest toddlers.

If you choose to let your kids practice their biking skills, be aware that there are sandy patches that can be difficult to navigate, and I'd avoid it altogether if there are a number of bigger kids riding.  The trails can get crowded pretty easily.
