Maston Trailhead (Redmond)

This is a brand new (2013) trailhead development west of Redmond and South of Eagle Crest.  It's part of the Cline Buttes Recreation Area (BLM).  This Trail System can also be accessed from the unimproved (dirt parking lot and no restroom facility) Juniper trailhead.

The trailhead includes several picnic tables, separate parking areas for horse trailers and autos, and the nice pit toilets.

There is little elevation change in this part of the recreation area, so the trails are easier than some for kids to negotiate.  There are some long sections of smooth trail, interspersed with some rocky areas.  My 3 year old can handle most of the terrain on the trail-a-bike.  Your results may vary.

You will probably want to avoid the rim trails for safety reasons when you're riding with kids.  You might want to keep the thought of rattlesnakes in the back of your mind too.

This area is open to hunting, so you'll want to keep that in mind during hunting season
