Three Pines Park (Bend)

Three Pines Neighborhood Park is a small park with a modest play structure --which Bend Parks and Rec optimistically calls "Railroad themed"--and almost no parking.  It's located in upscale Shevlin Pines subdivision.

If you want to visit, you could arrive by bicycle via the COCC - Shevlin Park Trail, or you can drive out Shevlin Park Road and take a left on Park Commons Drive.  Immediately on your right, there is a small parking lot that is probably your best bet. There is one handicapped parking space adjacent to the playground, and a couple of unmarked (unauthorized) parking spots that I don't feel comfortable using.

Once you park, walk east along the COCC-Shevlin Park Trail about 1/4 mile until you arrive at the playground. When you're finished with the playground, you can take the trail just to the south of the playground which follows an old railroad grade and crosses a small trestle over Mt Jefferson Place.

From there, you can wind your way back to the parking lot using the network of neighborhood walking paths. You might want to plan a route using the aerial photos on Bing or Google maps.

Parking: As described above.
Bathrooms: Nope.
Safety: Remember to watch for rogue bicyclists on the trails; There is a rock wall on the west side of the playground that could present a hazard for some children.
