Stewart Park (Roseburg)

We love the high desert, but sometimes we venture away from Central Oregon and I can never find enough information about things to do with kids

Like Bend, Roseburg has it's roots in logging. Unlike Bend, things haven't changed much in Roseburg.

When I was a kid, my Grandma lived in this town, and we would walk from her house to Stewart Park to play on the train. Fortunately, the train is still there.

The train is set up to climb on. Most of the moving parts are welded shut, but my kids had a blast pretending to drive the train. There are some places a kid could get hurt...trip hazards, sharp edges, and places to fall so you'll want to climb aboard yourself to evaluate the potential hazards.

Stewart Park also includes a nice play area that's a short distance, but across the street from the train. Bike paths lead in several directions from the park and connect to other parks and parts of Roseburg. One path leads to a bike bridge that is suspended beneath the I-5 Bridge. The park also includes a small wildlife preserve, the YMCA with it's indoor pool and lots of Umpqua River access.
